Rates & Insurance
Private psychological services are not covered by MSI. However, most health insurance plans cover the services of a Registered Psychologist. I encourage you to confirm the amount of coverage you have available prior to booking sessions.
Rates
210$ individual therapy / 60 minute session
220$ couples therapy / 60 minute session
330$ couples therapy / 1.5 hour session
Please note: The hour consists of 50 minutes of treatment time, followed by 10 minutes of admin time for the psychologist.
Reports or forms prepared on your behalf or at your request will also be billed at this rate as per the time it takes to complete the documentation. Any reports, consultations, notes, or letters will be billed by the hour in 15-minute increments.
Receipts for the services of a Registered Psychologist are income tax deductible as health care expenses. Fees are set by the Association of Psychologists of Nova Scotia and are subject to change.
Insurance
Depending on your current health insurance provider or employee benefit plan, it is possible for services to be covered in full or in part. Please contact your provider to verify how your plan compensates you for psychotherapy services. Unfortunately, your psychologist cannot check this information for you.
I’d recommend asking these questions to your insurance provider to help determine your benefits:
Does my health insurance plan include seeing a psychologist?
Do I have a deductible? If so, what is it and have I met it yet?
Does my plan limit how many sessions per calendar year I can have? If so, what is the limit?
How much coverage do I have per year? When does it renew?
Do I need a referral in order for my benefits to cover seeing a psychologist?
How do I submit my receipts for reimbursement?
Are there any issues with telepsych services being covered (i.e., virtual/video and phone)?

Cancellation Policy
If you are unable to attend a session, please make sure you cancel at least 24 business hours beforehand. Otherwise, you will be billed for the full rate of the session. Sufficient notice will allow another client to be booked during the time that was reserved for you. Monday appointments must be cancelled no later than 12:00 pm noon on Friday, and appointments scheduled on the first day following a holiday must be cancelled no later than 12:00 pm noon on the last business day before the holiday. The cancellation fee will be waived in exceptional, unforeseen, and uncontrollable circumstances, such as serious illness or a personal emergency, at your psychologist’s discretion. Please be advised that your receipt will be labeled as a missed appointment and most insurance companies do not cover the cost of missed appointments.
